‘Homeland’ season 6 will officially have New York setting

HomelandAfter spending the past couple of years in foreign locations, “Homeland” is officially coming home.

While speaking to Deadline today as a part of their The Contenders event (which is considered an early lead-up to Emmy awards season starting up in a couple of months), executive producer Alex Gansa confirmed that the new season is going to be in New York City. This is something that was first spoken about not long after season 5 concluded, but now that we’re getting closer to production starting up in the months ahead, it is nice to have that information finally confrimed.

Also, we imagine that this has to be quite the relief especially for Claire Danes, Mandy Patinkin, and the rest of the cast given how much time they have spent traveling and being away from their families over the past couple of years. Much of season 4 was filmed in South Africa, whereas in season 5 the cast was all in Germany.

When it comes to the overall theme for the episodes ahead, Gansa was willing to at least pass along the following message:

“How do you balance civil liberties with civil security?”

That may not be the most substantial message in the world, but one word we’d advise you to remember above all else is “timeliness.” This is a show that is on pace with current events perhaps more so than any other out there … with it sometimes being rather unfortunate since you do not want to see terrible events like those depicted on the show exist in reality.
