‘American Idol’ finale results: Was Trent Harmon or La’Porsha Renae season 15 winner?

Yes, the “American Idol” finale was emotional, amazing, and one of the biggest celebrations of music in vocal history. However, we don’t want to lose sight of the fact that at some point in the night, there were also results to read, and one last winner to be crowned.

Ultimately, it’s easy to say that both Trent Harmon and La’Porsha Renae were deserving in their own right, given that the two worked really hard to get to the finale, and each gave really wonderful performances that have to be considered some of the best we’ve heard through a decade and a half. This, to us, was probably the toughest finale race to call since at least season 11, where it was really tough to tell if Phillip Phillips or Jessica Sanchez was going to take it.

In the end, though, there was only one winner tonight and it was … Trent! We really cannot say that we’re too shocked by this, given that this is the way show voters tend to go; just look at every season as of late other than the one with Candice Glover. He really built momentum over the past few weeks, and that was enough to give him the crown.

Regardless, both Trent and La’Porsha will have their chances, and above all else we’re just happy and a little emotional with the night as a whole. If you love this show, we don’t see how you can be anything other than thrilled with the way this all played out. Maybe you disagree with the result, but this was a heck of a send-off.
