‘American Idol’ series finale: Ryan Seacrest, Brian Dunkleman reunite!

American Idol -Who knew that we’d have such a good time seeing Ryan Seacrest and Brian Dunkleman together again on TV? There were many reunions and drama expected during the “American Idol” series finale, but this one to us was especially fun.

Fairly early on in the show the two men embraced, and Dunkleman joked to him about what it is like being unemployed, something that happened for him when he left the show after the first season. Brian has himself owned up to the idea of being a television history “footnote” — that’s how he describes himself in his Twitter bio. He knows that it was a mistake leaving the show, but hey, you can’t change the past.

Do we wonder what could have been had Dunkleman continued to host the show? Certainly, but it is rather hard to say. Ryan could’ve still had the same success, and maybe his fellow co-host would have, as well. It’s also possible that at some other point along the way one of them could have decided to leave, causing the other to continue along in some sort of solo capacity.

The biggest thing here is just that Brian and “Idol” were both game enough to have this little meetup happen, and it shows that while tonight’s finale is about paying tribute to the ultimate winner of the season, at the same time the series is still trying to do their part to celebrate the past in any way they can. This was a big part of it.
