‘The Originals’ season 3 spoilers: Have Klaus and Caroline reached their end?
There are few ‘ships within the world of “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals” that have the same sort of following as Caroline and Klaus a.k.a. Klaroline … but at the same time, few also have the sort of obstacles holding them back. Just consider for a moment everything that has transpired between them, and the logistical challenges that come with them being on two separate shows. Each program has their own team of writers, and therefore there is only so much time that crossovers can happen. It’s even more so when actors only have so much time in a day and cannot teleport between the two shows.
Ultimately, it seems as though for, the relationship between Klaus and Caroline is over, and that phone call we had a little bit earlier on in the season may have been some of the closure that we needed for the two. Speaking on the subject per TVLine, “Originals” executive producer Michael Narducci had the following to say:
“I don’t want to speak for what they’re doing on [The Vampire Diaries], but it certainly seemed like Klaus was saying to Caroline that he would always care for her and respect her, but that he understood she had moved on … I know there are fans that want that relationship to continue, so I’m sure there are people who will read this and howl and be angry; I can’t fault them for their passion.”
Who knows? Maybe this is a dynamic or a romance that could be further explored at some point in the future, but for the time being we don’t really see it being brought up too many more times. Caroline’s role is probably minimized at the moment due to Candice King’s pregnancy, while at the same time Klaus has Cami and also plenty of other issues to deal with in New Orleans.

I”m not really worried by MN words, the crossover in 5×11 with Klaus saying he will never come back was already supposed to be closure and yet we got a Klaroline phone call two years after that and Klaus showed during the all crossover how Caroline was still the most important woman in his life, he was ready to put in danger this all family just for her. So of course, for the moment, it’s complicated for them because they are in two differents shows but Klaroline will rise once again :)
