‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ season 8 reunion review (part 3): Kim Fields’ curtain call; Kenya Moore’s ‘apology’

Kim Fields RHOA

Tonight, it is time for us to formally drop the curtain on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” season 8, which can probably be described for the most part with one word: “Meh.” There were some good episodes, but there was also a heck of ridiculous drama, and not the sort that we find to be particularly fun. (Trust us when we say that there is in fact some sort of distinction between the two.)

Tonight, we suppose that the top meta-story is that this the last episode of the show presumably to feature Kim Fields, who claims that she is not returning for another go … which we do certainly understand given that she did not exactly seem to have a very fun time the majority of the time in which she was around this year. In the end, NeNe Leakes probably said it best: She liked Kim, but didn’t really think she was the right fit.

As for NeNe, who would’ve thought that she and Kenya Moore were ever going to be on mediocre terms, let alone good ones?

One of the better moments of the show came for Kenya when she and Matt admitted that they were actually still making their relationship work; however, one of the more uncomfortable ones came when Andy Cohen, almost like he was Kenya’s dad, made her apologize over some of the whole “Chrissy” nonsense. Why didn’t Kenya just want to give a good apology? It was a little bait-y the way that she went about this, and even if she didn’t believe it, there were ways to have this problem resolved much faster than it ended up happening.

In the end, though, we didn’t leave this reunion with a terrible taste in our mouth. Most of the wives are at least civil, and it was especially nice to know that the show didn’t exploit Porsha Williams’ anger problems by making a big deal out of her in-season fight. Episode grade: B.
