‘Arrow’ season 4, episode 16 review: Did Cupid bring Oliver, Felicity closer together?

Arrow -Love was in the air on “Arrow” Wednesday night … but not necessarily in the way that tends to lead to happy endings.

During this episode, we saw the return of one of the show’s most-noteworthy villains in Cupid, who remains a ball of excitement and energy to us. Granted, you could also argue that she was there just to generate that Oliver / Felicity stunt wedding that probably generated the rage of so many ‘shippers across the internet, but if it took a wedding to get Oliver to admit some of his feelings to her in front of an officiant, then we’re happy that it happened.

Despite everything that they went through, though, the two characters are still not together. Felicity admitted that there was still a part of him who would always default to being Oliver on the island, and thanks to that, he’d never be able to look after her in the way that she needed. Also, she cannot handle working with the team for the time being. It’s sad, but we’re still holding out hope for their future.

Elsewhere tonight, we saw Lauren do a pretty awesome job taking down Damien Darhk in court. It’s something that this season has lacked at times, since they’ve focused on her more strictly as the Black Canary. It was nice to see, just as it was nice to see Quentin willing to sacrifice his job in order to provide the testimony needed to have him sent to prison. Will this last? That remains to be seen, mostly because of the fact Darhk seems to still have a few tricks up his sleeve.

Tonight’s episode was probably a little too heavy on the romance with Quentin back, but at least we had a solid foundation set up for the future. Grade: B-.
