‘Dancing with the Stars 22’ spotlight: Do Ginger Zee, Val Chmerkovskiy have blue skies ahead?
We’ve arrived officially now to the latest “Dancing with the Stars” spotlight of the season, and we’re talking today about someone in Ginger Zee who is certainly familiar to ABC. She’s a meteorologist for “Good Morning America,” and this is her opportunity to ABC News proud over the course of the season. We think that people will certainly like her who have watched her over the years, but does that mean she’ll be a good dancer? Not necessarily.
Ultimately, this is something we’re looking forward to discussing further.
Claim to fame – Meteorologist, who has been with “Good Morning America” in some capacity since November 2011. Before that, she worked for a number of smaller markets, earning acclaim along the way.
Partner – Val Chmerkovskiy. Do we really need to create some sort of introduction at this point for who Val is? His reputation on the show speaks for itself as one of the best pro dancers in the competition. He’s won the show with Rumer Willis, and he’ll push you while at the same time working to relate to you as a human being.
Strengths – She’s already on ABC! What better product synergy is there? She has a platform every morning that can be used to promote her further, and that’s publicity that some other contestants don’t have. Also, she can relate to other new moms out there, and isn’t really thought of as a traditional “Star.” People wanting to see themselves in a dancer could easily vote to her.
Weaknesses – Like Nastia Liukin and so many more before her with a job across the country, we worry very much about how Ginger will hold up having to fly cross-country on such a regular basis. Her job already requires a lot of work, and then you’re adding this on top of it. Also, we don’t know if she has any real dance experience at all. The sort of “performing” she does on live TV is something she’s had training to do for years.
Prediction – We’re thinking right now that she’ll land in the middle of the pack. People will really like her, but we just worry that with a lack of experience in this venue, plus her schedule, that this will eventually catch up to her.
