‘Switched at Birth’ season 5 not coming until 2017

Here is certainly some news when it comes to “Switched at Birth” that surprised us and then some: The fifth and final season of the Freeform drama is not coming on the air until 2017.

In a post on Twitter, creator Lizzy Weiss confirmed the shocking news that we’ll be waiting for an incredibly-long time to see more of the show air, and there’s no real explanation as to why or a timetable as to when. This really is in our mind a massive wait for a long-running show, especially one that is airing on a network that, at least for the most part, tends to cater to young people.

Ultimately, it would be bad no matter who your audience is that you are taking more than a year off of the air; however, for “Switched at Birth” it is even worse since you’re talking about a series whose viewers may start to drift over to other things. We do hope that the show is remembered when it returns, mostly because we know it conveys strong messages and brings something to the table that you don’t find anywhere else on TV. Ultimately, that is why this show has accumulated so much popularity in the first place .

As soon as we have more of an accurate premiere date, we will have it for you here; unfortunately, we have a feeling that it could take a while for that to come out given the current timeline being what it is.
