‘The Bachelorette’ 2016: JoJo Fletcher selected over Caila Quinn, others

How about this for a surprise to some members of “Bachelor Nation” tonight? During the “Bachelor: After the Final Rose” special on Monday night, it was revealed that none other than JoJo Fletcher will be the person handing out roses for the upcoming season.

Why does this come as a surprise? It comes mostly because of the fact that there were so many stories as of late talking about how Caila Quinn was getting the role instead. The announcement almost came out of nowhere during the show itself, given that usually it’s not something that tends to be brought up until the tail end of the show. This time, it just happened after JoJo’s interview with Chris Harrison and Ben Higgins.

What seems interesting to us about the JoJo pick is that this seemed to be an almost-direct result of some of the social-media reaction to Caila being chosen for the role supposedly at first. Fans were not thrilled about it on social media, and this may have led to a last-minute change in thinking. We do think that JoJo will do a really good job in the role, and will bring honesty and earnestness to the table. She’s also outspoken, which means to us that she won’t take much nonsense from many of the guys.

Of course, we do wonder given the last-minute change if ABC cast the season more with Caila in mind, and now has to make sure that they still have the right crop of guys for JoJo. We shall see.
