‘Into the Badlands’ season 2 official; AMC orders ten new episodes

While a second season of “Into the Badlands” on AMC has long been discussed, we are very much glad to say that, for certain, this is happening.

The network earlier today ordered ten new episodes of the martial-arts drama starring Daniel Wu, which had pretty strong ratings throughout its first season. Were these ratings somewhat skewed? Definitely. The show had the supreme benefit of airing following “The Walking Dead” and before “Talking Dead,” a move that led to some fans of the zombie drama getting extremely angry. While we’re appreciative of the following that came to this show as a result, it also has to be said that sometimes, any publicity is not always good publicity when you are trying to convince people to watch your show. You don’t want to associate it with negativity.

It is for this latter reason that we really hope that when season 2 premieres, AMC will do the right thing and opt to not just air the show in the same night and time. Maybe put it on Mondays, since you are already doing some experimenting there with “Better Call Saul” and “Turn: Washington’s Spies.” This is a great show that is completely different than everything else that is out there. With that in mind, we definitely feel confident that there will be plenty of people who figure out a way to tune in and watch.

As soon as we hear more about the upcoming episodes, we’ll have the news for you here!
