‘The X Factor’ UK: Could Dermot O’Leary really return just one year after departure?

The latest news -We love chatting about rumors pertaining to “The X Factor,” and when you consider that this next one has to be one of our favorites in some time.

Per The Sun, former show host Dermot O’Leary has been quietly approached (or, at least, his people supposedly have) by folks over at the ITV singing competition about returning to host the upcoming season. It would be an interesting change-up given his recent comments that the show could benefit from taking a year off and recharging the batteries.

Here is what a source had to say to the British publication:

“There has been a quiet approach via his management company. He’s got more offers than he has ever had in his career at the moment, but he isn’t on an exclusive contract with the BBC and would definitely love to work with ITV.

“For him the decision will probably come down to balance.”

Would this be fun? Absolutely, and we always enjoyed Dermot as a host, mostly because sometimes he seemed to be one of the only people legitimately having a good time. He was affable, smart, and as sympathetic to the contestants as someone can be when you consider that the show makes its environment at times out to be a Roman coliseum except with Whitney Houston songs. Also, we feel like the rapport between him and Simon Cowell would be better than ever after he said some of the things that he did about the show.

Also, we hate this show having two hosts. The only reason Ant & Dec work on “Britain’s Got Talent” is because they’ve worked together for so long that they have more or less become one person.
