‘Law & Order: SVU’ stars Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T thank fans after season 18 renewal
“Law & Order: SVU” has become an institution over at NBC, and it has also become a rather stable place for many of its cast members. There are two actors in Mariska Hargitay (Benson) and Ice-T (Fin) who have chronicled more than 350 episodes on the show, and based on their Twitter reactions, we have to assume that both very much are intent on returning for more of the show.
While “SVU” has been able to live on for a long time while losing some of its original cast members like Christopher Meloni and Dann Florek, we do think it needs at least someone who has been there from the very beginning. That someone is Hargitay, who is the lifeblood of the series and also does great work behind the scenes on it and also fighting against domestic violence in real life. Ice-T, who has been a part of the show himself since season 2, has also taken up many of the causes. We’re glad to see them interested in continuing to make more of the show, just as we’re glad that there is a season 18 coming up in the fall.
Now that this has happened, executive producer Dick Wolf’s entire roster of shows are all coming back for another season and there is no reason to worry about last-second decisions. While plans to revive the original “Law & Order” are dead for now, there is potentially a “Chicago Law” coming in the future. It will be spun out from “Chicago PD” if it gets to the point of a backdoor pilot.

Thank goodness. I don’t know what I would have done with Mariska on my TV every week! I’d like to see Ice T get more to do next season….. And get a new DA.

If NBC and SVU really want to thank the fans, BRING THE WHOLE CAST BACK INTACT FOR NEXT SEASON!. OPEN UP THE WALLETS AND DO WHATEVER IT TAKES. No pathetic excuses.

Who would you bring back? Obviously Christopher Meloni would never willingly do the show again. B.D. Wong and Dann Florek are still on occasionally. I’d love to see Stephanie March back. Richard Belzer has given up acting…

I didn’t know Richard Belzer gave up acting. I would have paid the money to keep Danny Pino last season, taken better care of Kelli Giddish and stopped the baloney of cutting the payroll for the last 5-6 seasons. They may cut the payroll again this season by letting someone go. Mariska wants a raise to $500,000 per episode. Let’s see what happens.
