‘NCIS’ season 13 finale will feature new character for season 14
It was some time ago that it was first known that “NCIS” is looking to introduce two new characters for the upcoming season 14, with one of the primary reasons being that they will have to replace the departing Michael Weatherly. (For the record, we don’t know if anyone else is leaving.)
What we do have now, though, is some news about one of the new characters who should be around by the season 13 finale. Per TVLine, the show is looking to cast Tess, a three-time divorcee in her late thirties who can be very nurturing when she needs to be. She is an FBI Special Agent who comes from a counter-terrorism unit in New York City, so she has plenty of experience. She’s both tender and tough, and should make a fun addition to the team depending on who the producers find for the role.
Given that we are losing Weatherly at the end of the season, we feel like it’d be smart for CBS to try to book someone for this role who is at least reasonably well-known to TV viewers. This way, you can build buzz around a show in its 14th season (that’s not always easy to do), and you also give longtime fans who are upset about Michael leaving some incentive to keep on watching. One way to cast is look at some shows that are ending, or maybe check out some people who haven’t had a series-regular gig over the past couple of seasons, but who are well loved in TV land for their past work.
Ultimately, it’s smart to introduce them at the end of the season, given that this gives us something to look forward to in season 14 if the character turns out to be great.

Well, if someone makes a snotty comment to you, and you give them one back, that is considered to be starting a fight and they will remove your post. It happened to me.

I hope that they don’t intro the new character at the end of the year. That will just be even less time that they devote to Tony’s departure, although with the current powers that be, I’m not expecting them to give Tony much screen time or his fans an exciting exit for their favorite. I can gaurantee plenty of Gibbs angst though. Sorry to be so negative but it would be nice if anyone but Pauley Perrette could actually act as if they care that Weatherly is leaving. Yawners. Weatherly gone. Me too.

Right there with you sadtonyfan :-( I’m already weaning myself away from my once favorite tv show as I expect tptb (i.e., GG) to give Tony (Michael) as little time as they possibly can for the rest of Season 13. What a way to treat a guy who has given you 13+ years of his life and who was at least half the reason for the show’s crazy popularity.. And, ditto re: Pauley Perette – not a word from any one else on that set???? Sure is a tough business. Hope Michael really enjoys his new found freedom and his family – wish him only the best.

I read an infuriating interview given by Sean Murray where the writer assured us that Murray intends to “remain loyal” to NCIS – the implication of course that Michael Weatherly is some kind of sketchy turncoat. Glasberg and company did their best to diminish and destroy Weatherly’s DiNozzo while featuring and flattering everyone else. Now are they going to smear Weatherly as well? How petty and ugly.

Seriously? The writer of that article has been implicating that Weatherly (and de Pablo as well btw.) are not loyal. Sean hasn’t stated anything that made either Weatherly nor de Pablo look bad. You cannot seriously blame Sean or CBS/NCIS for the stupidity of an author. You’re as bad as the Cote nuts for sure. Ugh. Always spreading hate against the others who are not your favorite.
