‘The Affair’ season 3: Return date speculation, more for Showtime drama

Affair -This has been a rather under-the-radar year for “The Affair” on Showtime. While the series was a critical darling both this year and when it debuted in 2014, it has not received the same amount of attention this time around in the awards cycle. It still churns out strong episodes, though, and there is nothing to be concerned about in regards to its future. After all, Showtime has already renewed it for a third season.

So when could it premiere? Right now, the simple answer is that the series will likely pair it once more with “Homeland” in the fall. We do think that there is a time when the network will start to mix things up a little bit and considering moving this show or others, but it probably won’t be until they have a new series that they are desperate to use the “Homeland” lead-in for. It’s either that or when “Homeland” or another show like “Shameless” comes to a close.

For “The Affair,” we get the sense that this series is more in the vein of where it could go on as long as the creators want it to. While it may not be too much of a ratings powerhouse, it does still do enough that it is in no danger of going anywhere so long as the same group of people who watch it now continue to do so and enjoy what they are seeing.

We’ll have some other news on the series over the course of the hiatus, so be on the lookout.
