Ratings: ‘Grimm’ season 5 hits new low; ‘America’s Next Top Model’ finale flat (12/4/2015)

Grimm -Given that last week was Black Friday, you would have to hope that there would be at least some increases in the ratings compared to the week before … and the proof is in the pudding that this is a pretty smart strategy to have.

The winners – Great news for “The Amazing Race” (1.1 in the 18-49 demographic) and “MasterChef Junior,” as they each recovered from lower ratings last week. One is getting near the end of its fall season, and you have to hope the numbers will rise for that. At least the “Race” is doing fairly well in comparison to the season last year, though we’re not entirely sure about the whole “social media star” season in the spring. Seems a little desperate.

Other than a slight increase for “Last Man Standing” (1.3), the only other news is that “Undateable Live” (which stayed fairly steady with an 0.8 rating) drew its most viewers since October 16 (2.92 million).

The losers – More rough news from “Grimm,” as the show following its hiatus had a series-low 0.8 rating. This is a show that continues to be a DVR beast, so fans can cling to that. However, just how long are the DVR ratings going to serve as a reasonable excuse?

Also, we expected that series finale of “America’s Next Top Model” to do better than a 0.3. With all of the talk about this show’s legacy, we’re a little stunned that curiosity did not drive at least some people back for nostalgia’s sake. It’s possible the show still finds a home somewhere on cable, as it tends to repeat better than the average reality show.
