‘The Flash’ season 2, episode 8 video: Show boss on Vandal Savage, Hawkgirl, and more

Crossover -

In just a matter of several hours, one of the most-anticipated episodes of “The Flash” is going to be here in “Legends of Today.” What does that mean? Effectively, it’s a chance to see many of the characters together fighting evil once more, but in a more unified fashion than we’re used to.

As if taking on Vandal Savage was not hard enough for some of these people, though, there is another issue that rises to the surface: Having to train a new hero in the process. This is something that executive producer Gabrielle Stanton previews in the video below, talking about how Cisco’s relationship with Kendra Saunders is going to further inform him of a thing or two related to her alter ego of Hawkgirl. This sets in motion a chain that could lead to the arrival of Carter Hall a.k.a. Hawkman and also Savage himself.

For those who are eagle-eyed, there are a few other scenes in the video that we have not seen before now. For example, Oliver Queen is not particularly thrilled about the fact that Barry Allen and the STAR Labs team have welcomed in someone in Kendra who he knows nothing about. After all, Oliver is the master of secrecy; just remember for a minute here that he didn’t even bother telling Thea before she meets The Flash that the two have a relationship. (This is one of the funniest moments that we have here.)

In the end, this crossover looks to be a lot of fun, and it should set the stage further for “Legends of Tomorrow,” which will premiere in full this January. We’re still waiting to see when Rip Hunter, the time-traveler who really is responsible for unifying the group, will be surfacing. That may not happen until the first episode there.
