‘The Walking Dead’ season 6: Show boss breaks down strong reaction to Glenn story

Glenn -If there is one thing we can say about the internet as a whole, it is that they have opinions … and many of them have been divided about the story on “The Walking Dead” this season. From the moment that Glenn “died,” there was outrage by some in a variety of different ways. Some were upset that the character could be gone, while others were upset at the notion of this all being an elaborate fake-out. In many ways the show really painted itself into a corner, one where it would either anger critics or anger fans. Smartly, they chose to anger the critics (unintentionally) by making a move to bring Glenn back, even though we’ve heard from plenty who feel cheated by the way that the show toyed around with them with this story.

So what does Scott M. Gimple have to say in defense of this? Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the showrunner claims that the response he has seen from fans has been overwhelmingly possible, and he does not see anything about this particular story that makes it stand out all that much in the world that has been created:

“I think it’s very much in line with everything we’ve done before. I don’t think there’s a credibility issue. It seems like there’s this growing sort of divide between the people who watch the show and the people who write about the show. There’s not a wrong way to watch it; nobody is doing anything wrong. I’m getting a lot different messages that are diametrically opposed.”

If there is one thing that we hope that the show has learned from all of this, it is that this sort of cliffhanger cannot be left for so many weeks. Had we dived back into the Glenn story a week or two after his supposed death, we feel like we would’ve been much more okay with it.
