‘The Walking Dead’ season 6, episode 8 reaction: Tovah Feldshuh visits ‘Talking Dead,’ talks Deanna’s onslaught

talkingOn Sunday night’s new episode of “Talking Dead,” we had a chance to hear for the first time from someone who saw their time on the show unfortunately end on “The Walking Dead” midseason finale, even if it was in a pretty awesome fashion: Tovah Feldshuh. Her character of Deanna was bit by a walker, but rather than using the bullets in her gun on herself in the closing seconds, she used them instead to kill as many walkers as possible.

So why make this move? Speaking to host Chris Hardwick, Feldshuh made it clear that it was, in Deanna’s mind, “for the greater good, for the betterment of the community … This person comes in as a politician, a person who comes in [not believing in such violence] … and she [exits] a samurai.”

As for how she felt first learning that her character was going to be killed off, she was rather sad and specifically mentioned executive producer Scott M. Gimple and star Andrew Lincoln as great people to be around:

“I think like every actor, your heart sinks [when finding out this news]. It’s one of the greatest jobs in television. You don’t want to lose the feeling [you felt] … This is a loving set.”

Moving forward life will of course go on for the residents of Alexandria, and now we’re in an interesting position where Rick is the de facto leader without opposition. Based on what we know right now he’s going to have his hands full in between Carol and Morgan going at it and of course what is happening with Daryl, Abraham, and Sasha out in the woods. If you missed the post-credits scene / teaser for the second half of the season, you can read more about that over here.
