‘Doctor Who’ season 9, episode 11 video: Steven Moffat, Peter Capaldi on ‘Heaven Sent’

Doctor WhoThis weekend, “Doctor Who” is officially going to kick off the path to the finale in high gear with “Heaven Sent.” What does this story entail? Well, let’s start by saying that this is going to be a completely different story than almost any other one that you have seen over the course of the entire season so far.

For one, Clara Oswald is gone, and as Peter Capaldi and Steven Moffat explain below, that is going to put the Doctor in a very different position. He will be trapped alone, presumably in a dark castle, and he has to figure out a way to escape before being taken out by monsters. This is more or less the show’s version of a Rapunzel story minus much of the fairy-tale goodness.

This episode will carry over into “Hell Bent,” which is a very key episode for setting up the future of the series. This will give way to the events of the Christmas Special, otherwise known as the first collaboration between the Doctor and River Song. Pretty much everyone is excited for this special, and we want to see what it will take for us to get there. Also, it’s Christmas! This show does have a tendency to create some magic around this time of year.
