‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7 spoilers: New ‘Cold As Ice’ photo references Caroline’s pregnancy

When the news first came out that Candice King was pregnant with her first child, of course one of the immediate questions was how in the world The CW was going to write this into “The Vampire Diaries.” Well, we recently got our answer with one of the strangest twists that we’ve seen on almost any show. Caroline’s pregnancy is going to forge a bond between her and Alaric, and maybe this is why the two end up being together when we come to the flash-forward a few years down the road.

The photo above is from the upcoming December episode “Cold As Ice,” and one thing that is immediately clear is that the show has progressed Caroline into her pregnancy. It has to be nice for both King and the crew to not have to hide that anymore, and of course our interest is intense in trying to learn just how this is going to fit into the show in the long-term.

As for how this pregnancy will impact things between Caroline and Stefan in the long-term, that is also an equally-good question. At the moment, it is really hard to have anything resembling an answer to that other than that the two each have their own potential sources of tension to contribute to the pregnancy. For Stefan, what he is struggling with now may be the truth concerning Valerie, while Caroline has this. The two have a lot on their plate, and we know that we are not being led to a particularly happy end for the two at the moment.
