‘Doctor Who’ season 9, episode 10: Jenna Coleman, Steven Moffat reflect on Clara, The Doctor

Doctor -Just in case you were starting to feel a little bit better after the shocking events of “Doctor Who” this weekend, the two videos below may open up some of these wounds all over again. With that in mind, we do bring you yet another SPOILER warning right now.

At the end of this weekend’s new episode of the BBC show, we saw Clara Oswald make the sacrifice and face the raven, which eventually led to her death. This is obviously a game-changer for the series. Jenna Coleman is no longer in the cast, and Peter Capaldi will spend the final two episodes of the season anchoring the series on his own. It was probably devastating to many young fans, as well, who became used to the collaboration.

The first video below featuring Coleman does not really reflect too much on the death scene itself, but rather a special friendship that she forged with Capaldi that will probably last the rest of their life. The two have a unique bond that only comes with hours of working together on set, coupled with lengthy promotional tours and convention appearances.

Meanwhile, the second video features showrunner Steven Moffat talking about the importance of framing her death scene in a way that no one person was solely responsible, and what it means to the fabric of the series itself. Clara is not the first Companion to die in the line of duty, but it is still stunning given that at one point it felt like she had a future in front of her with Danny Pink last season.
