‘Empire’ season 2 spoilers: The fall finale and assorted conflict

Empire -The fall finale of “Empire” is going to be coming up on Fox come Wednesday, December 2, and if there is one teaser that we can drop all about it right now, it is this: Prepare for this to be perhaps the craziest installment of the show we’ve seen to date. “Et Tu, Brute” is the title, and for those of you who know the story of Julius Caesar, you realize already that this is problematic and implies that there is a huge betrayal coming potentially to the Lyon family.

Fox has released the synopsis for this installment below, and while it does not reveal any big betrayal, it does make it clear that there will be an enormous twist ending that creates a pretty rough cliffhanger that is going to last until the end of March when the show returns:

“Lucious makes a reckless play for the streaming service that he believes will make him the most powerful man in music, only to learn that the entire business strategy was part of a scheme that might jeopardize everything for which he has worked so hard. Meanwhile, Cookie decides to plan a concert at the prison where she spent 17 years locked away from her family; and you won’t want to miss the last few minutes that will leave you speechless.”

While we cannot speak too much to any of these stories without seeing Wednesday night’s upcoming episode first, let’s instead say this: We really hope that four months is not too long for the show to go off of the air. The hiatus that the series is taking here is only a couple of months shorter than the one over the spring / summer, and it may feel like an entirely new season by the time it returns.
