‘The Amazing Race 27’ episode 9 review: Did the U-Turn slow down Justin & Diana?

Green Team -

We’ve been torn at times on the Green Team throughout “The Amazing Race 27.” What we love about the two is their enthusiasm, and they are probably the sort of people we would want to sit down with to watch an episode of the show.

However, at the same time we’re not sure that Justin made the greatest move ever in making an enemy out of Logan & Chris by spreading around what they were saying about Tiffany & Krista. Why do that? They are pretty lucky tonight that they didn’t get too lost going to the U-Turn board, given that had Kelsey & Joey not used it on Tanner & Josh, they could have been in danger if Logan & Chris made it to the board first. It worked out for them in this situation, and luckily, there’s probably not another U-Turn coming up the rest of the race.

Are Justin & Diana on pace to be the best team in “Amazing Race” history? They need two more wins to tie Dave & Rachel’s record, but they really care about winning first and foremost. What’s also great about this leg is that in Tanner & Josh getting eliminated, they have an even clearer path to the finish line. Their only competition left from what we gather are the reporters, and they still haven’t won a leg.

Seeing Team Texas go home at the end of the leg really did not bring us any joy. Instead, we mostly just felt like this leg was incredibly unfair to them. The Speed Bump was ultimately so much harder than the average one (remember the ice-cream one from seasons ago?), since it basically made them both do the laundry Roadblock. From there, they were the perfect U-Turn scapegoats. They had to be completely reliant on another team making a huge flub, and it almost happened in Denise & James Earl. It just didn’t happen soon enough. Grade: B-.
