‘The Blacklist’ season 3 spoilers: Is an alliance coming between Tom and Ressler?

The Blacklist logo any season“The Blacklist” is a crime drama in many ways, but it also has aspects of a political thriller. By that, we mean mostly that this is a show that tends to feature a wide array of tilting alliances. We’ve seen Red work for the FBI, against the FBI, with Liz Keen, and against her. The same goes for many other characters.

So what may surprise some of you out there? It’s the idea that one particular alliance coming up in the second half of the season is between Ressler and Tom Keen. These are not two guys who have a tendency to be on the same page, but executive producer Jon Bokenkamp tells Entertainment Weekly that you are still going to get an opportunity to see them interact with each other throughout the story coming up following Liz’s arrest:

“Tom, who will do anything possible to save and exonerate Liz, will find himself aligned in a completely unexpected way with Ressler, and these two guys hate each other … There’s no love lost between those two guys. I would expect to see them perhaps unite in some sort of way to help Liz. It kills them both to have to do it. What happens when they recognize that they have the same agenda?”

Ultimately, it feels like they both at least do share the priority of making sure that Megan Boone’s character is protected, and in many ways this may be the lining that binds them together. Given their history, we will just have to see is this is enough to keep them from going at each other in a substantial way.
