‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Matthew McConaughey, Adele, and ‘Hello’ jokes with Cecily Strong

SNL -At this particular moment in time, there is no bigger star in music than Adele. Therefore, this weekend’s edition of “Saturday Night Live” is one of the few occasions where the musical guest is actually getting the same attention as host Matthew McConaughey. This is more impressive when you consider how the actor is hardly a small fry in the entertainment business.

NBC has released the latest promo below for this weekend’s show, and this is the one to actually feature Adele herself as she chats with McConaughey and cast member Cecily Strong. This is certainly silly, given that we have a lengthy story from the actor about some time he was in Santa Fe, and then a clip that is making fun of Adele’s “Hello” in title itself. It’s nice to see her game enough to do this.

Could Adele appear in a sketch? It’d be fun if she did, but we don’t really have any expectation that she will. The majority of the musical guests this season have stayed in their comfort zone. Granted, The Weeknd did make a tiny cameo in “Weekend Update,” and Demi Lovato did play a part in the “Astronaut Jones” sketch at the very end of the Tracy Morgan show.

Let’s finish this article by shaking our head with disappointment at NBC for their new, odd choice of including commercials both before and during their promos. For some reason, the network now apparently wants you to see two commercials before actually seeing their commercial outright.
