‘Call the Midwife’ season 5: Helen George on balancing show, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’
Being busy often is a great thing, but there is still no doubt that there are moments that it can start to feel a little bit overwhelming. This something that you always have to wonder when someone does a job on a reality show while balancing another job on the side.
With the American “Dancing with the Stars,” we have seen this happen on a number of occasions. Now, we’re seeing it with Helen George on “Strictly Come Dancing.” While competing in the BBC dance competition, she is filming “Call the Midwife,” one of the other highest-rated shows on BBC in preparation for its premiere next year following a Christmas Special. While we’d consider her one of the stars of the series at this point, we feel like in part she benefits from the fact that “Call the Midwife” is very much an ensemble, and there are a variety of other characters and stories so that she is not required to be in every scene. If that was the case, we imagine that production would be impossible.
Speaking to the Express in a new interview, George does admit that it has been difficult at time to juggle all of her responsibilities:
“Managing my time around both shows, and fitting in learning my lines and getting enough sleep, has been difficult … I need to retain all of that information in my head and I want to give both the very best I can. I’m quite a competitive person, but mostly with myself. I demand a lot from me which isn’t always great and I can be my own worst enemy.”
While we do cover “Strictly” extensively, we do wish Helen the best on it! We will be back doing reviews for “Call the Midwife” all season long.
