‘The Amazing Race 28’ to feature Tyler Oakley, Zach King, other internet stars

Today, CBS has done something a little bit unusual when it comes to the upcoming season of “The Amazing Race“: Basically, they have gone ahead and confirmed everyone taking part. The reason for that is for season 28, they’ve apparently decided to cling desperately to the internet fame of many people with millions of followers, subscribers, and views on their various social-media platforms.

Let’s be clear here that we’re not dogging on any of the people that have been chosen. A lot of these people worked pretty hard to get themselves in a position where they can make money doing what they love on the internet. It’s just the same problem as the all-dating-couples season 26: You never want the Race to be all of one thing, whether it is all of a certain relationship or a certain profession. If you had just a couple of these teams mixed in with a bunch of other people with different professions, it’d be fine.

Anyway, let’s go ahead and share with you some of the people taking part.

Erin White Robinson and Joslyn Davis – Best friends, hosts on YouTube’s Clevver. More than likely, you’ve seen these videos before.

Tyler Oakley and Korey Kuhl – Best friends, YouTube / social media stars. Oakley is probably the most famous person in this cast.

Burnie Burns and Ashley Jenkins – Dating, owner and host of Rooster Teeth. Love Rooster Teeth!

Cole and Shari LaBrant – The former is a famous Vine star; the latter is his mother.

Zach and Rachel King – Married; Zach is a Vine star famous for optical illusions / editing tricks.

Matt Steffanina and Dana Borriello – Dating; YouTube stars and dance instructors.

Jessica Versteeg and Brittany Oldehoff – Instagram models and best friends.

Marty Cobb and Hagan Parkman – Viral video star (she is the hilarious Southwest flight attendant) and daughter.

Blair and Scott Fowler – YouTube star (health / beauty) and father.

Kurt Gibson and Brody Smith – Friends, pro Frisbee players. Not entirely sure where they fit in here.

Cameron and Darius Benson – Vine stars, parkour athletes.

So as you can tell, there are a lot of likable, interesting people in here. We just wish that there was a chance for some other teams who don’t have some sort of preexisting level if fame.
