ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8: Neither Castle nor Beckett set to be killed off

Castle -For anyone out there who was worried about either Castle or Beckett being killed off of “Castle” this season, we now have a report that may make you breathe a little easier: Neither Stana Katic nor Nathan Fillion is being written out of the show by having their character killed off.

The rumors about a possible death on “Castle” started with a TVLine Blind Item last week, stating that a “co-lead” on an “established drama series” would be either killed off, or at least have their fate left hanging in the balance, during its upcoming fall finale. Given the string of bad things that have happened to Castle and Beckett this season, namely with their separation, we understand why there would be paranoia over it.

We’ve always been very doubtful that this Blind Item was talking about this show, but here is your confirmation. Terence Paul Winter, one of the two showrunners for the ABC drama, told Entertainment Weekly the following:

“We killed off Montgomery in season 3. We’re not killing anymore people off.”

Meanwhile, fellow showrunner Alexi Hawley said this:

“[If it were true], I can’t imagine we’d be sitting here saying you’re going to be excited to see what happens in January. ‘Beckett’s dead, but dont worry about it, it’s still going to be fun!’ No, we’re not. It’s absolutely not true.”

As we reported earlier today, there’s not going to be a hugely-dramatic cliffhanger at the end of the fall finale that leaves the future of the show up in the air; you are going to know pretty clearly what direction the show is planning to take.

For those wondering, we do have a guess about what this said “established drama series” is, but we don’t want to drum up further speculation (i.e. we know how the internet works). After it is revealed, we’ll openly admit if we’re wrong.
