‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9 spoilers: Laura Spencer promoted to series regular

Laura Spencer -

Given the end of “The Big Bang Theory” season 8, this is certainly not a bit of news we saw coming: Laura Spencer is now officially a series regular.

This news comes courtesy of TVLine, who reported the news after Spencer’s name had a more primo presence in the opening credits. The site claims that she will be a fractional regular, meaning that she will not appear in every episode but be available whenever the show needs her. We think of this in some ways similar to Kevin Sussman (Stuart), who does not always show up in episodes despite being credited as main cast.

For some time, Spencer has been splitting time between this show and another in “Bones,” where she has played squintern Jessica. Being promoted here gives her a better sense of job security, but it also means more than likely that Raj and her are not splitting up at any point in the near future.

With this being said, though, are they really meant to be? We are not entirely sure, given the fact as mentioned, he was seriously unnerved by the whole cemetery stuff at the end of last season. We feel like their story here is more about Raj developing confidence than their relationship itself; he has not figured out a way yet to be honest about his feelings, mostly because of his own fears that he will not find anyone else. Love interests have not been frequent for Raj over the years, though there is another one out there in Lucy (Kate Micucci).
