‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9, episode 4 preview: Sheldon learns some tough news

Come Monday night’s new episode of “The Big Bang Theory,” we’re going to get an opportunity to behold a variety of new developments, some of which have been a long time coming.

What’s one of them? It has to do with a long-simmering theme in Sheldon’s living arrangements. Eventually, Sheldon and Leonard were going to have to split up thanks to Leonard marrying Penny, and based on the sneak peek below, Johnny Galecki’s character tries to break the news to him in the most innocent of ways: By taking him out to a lovely visit to The Container Store first, while also buying him an Icee. Clearly in his mind, this is his proper way of softening the bow.

This entire conversation is certainly funny, but it also speaks to a specific character flaw in Sheldon: His refusal to accept change under any front. He already has one big change thanks to Amy breaking up with him, and do you remember the last time he was starting to feel overwhelmed by all of the changes fling at him? He tried to escape aboard a train, which presented a variety of different problems of their own.

We will be back tomorrow night with a full review of this particular episode. Let’s just hope that we get some sort of reasonable conclusion; right now, we will say that the most likely scenario is that either Stuart or Raj (who has lived with him before) ends up joining the apartment. It’s either that or Leonard finds a way to pop back and forth.
