‘Doctor Who’ season 9, episode 5 preview: Maisie Williams joins Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman

Doctor Who

Saturday’s “Doctor Who” episode concluded the saga of the underwater base, and gave us quite a few surprises when it comes to ghosts and who could be controlling them. This was one of the more unusual two-parters we have seen, but it was certainly interesting and we also got a further sense as to what is driving Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman’s characters to continue some of these adventures.

Next week, we are set to begin the saga of Maisie Williams on the show. The “Game of Thrones” actress is playing a key part starting in “The Girl Who Died,” and you can get a sense of some of what’s coming courtesy of the synopsis below:

“Captured by Vikings, the Doctor and Clara must help protect their village from Space Warriors from the future: the Mire. Outnumbered and outgunned, their fate seems inevitable. So why is the Doctor preoccupied with a single Viking girl?”

We’re not sure that there have been many other guest-starring roles for this show that have been this anticipated, mostly because what we are getting here ultimately is one genre superstar getting a chance to appear on another show of the same genre. We imagine that this is going to be a fun story to watch unfold, and one that will probably be stuffed full of a wide array of surprises. Stay tuned, as we’ll have some further updates coming up in the near future!
