‘Gotham’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Sons of Anarchy’ alum Tommy Flanagan signs up

Gotham -For everyone who loves Tommy Flanagan (and we know that there are many people out there), the following story has to be music to your ears: The actor is coming aboard “Gotham” for a major part in the show’s second season.

Flanagan himself was the first to confirm the news in a post on Twitter, where he shared an image of himself holding a script. Unfortunately, there are no clues as to who he is playing, though it is fair to assume that he is neither Batman nor the Joker. (Yea, we felt ridiculous even writing that.)

More than likely, we envision Flanagan playing someone who is new to the show, and while we think he can play heroic without a problem, our guess here is that he’s more likely to be taking on the role of a villain. These are the meatiest characters on “Gotham,” and with Jerome now dead the show may need to ensure that they’ve got some other interesting people coming up. This would certainly be a person to add to the list.

Monday night’s new episode of “Gotham” is going to introduce another prominent actor in Michael Chiklis, who is going to be a significant part of the rest of the season as Gordon’s new boss at the GCPD. He is someone who he will at first get along with, but it may turn out that he is almost too by-the-book for Ben McKenzie’s character after everything that he has been through over the past season-plus.
