‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 spoilers: Further speculation on Negan’s arrival

twdNegan is one of the most-feared characters from “The Walking Dead” comic universe who has yet to make it onto the AMC show, and after many years of speculation, it is starting to feel like we’re just about in a place where we can see the man surface.

What we do know is that the show already announced a casting notice for “Orin,” a guy who certainly sounds a lot like the feared villain. We know that we are in a place now where it would make some sense for Negan to turn up, and typically the show does tend to use code-names when casting big characters to try to keep things at least reasonably secretive. The problem is that with a character like this, it’s pretty hard to keep things under wraps.

TVLine recently asked showrunner Scott M. Gimple is “Orin” is meant to be Negan, and of course he was relatively cagey with his response:

“I can neither confirm nor deny … It’s not the worst guess in the world. It’s difficult to get around your logic here.”

The thing about casting Negan at this point is that expectations are probably through the roof, and it’ll be hard to match them. Part of what makes him so feared is that there is a particular scene from the comics that sends dread down the spine of many fans. Is it possible that the show replicates that exactly? Sure, but we do still feel like they have remixed and twisted so many different things from the show already that it would be a mistake to think that the producers are going to go with a literal adaptation of the source material here.
