‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ episode 2 preview: ‘Chutes and Ladders’ expands John Lowe’s world

Wes -There are several fascinating things at the moment regarding “American Horror Story: Hotel,” and by “fascinating,” we mostly mean “weird.” This show is every bit as insane as you thought it would be, and while we would not say that it is scare per se, it is certainly gory and shocking and testing the limits of basic cable television.

Given the nature of the production, we have to imagine that this is going to continue moving into next week’s “Chutes and Ladders,” which will feature everything from new arrivals (think along the lines of a few familiar faces) to Detective John Lowe trying to get a sense about the bizarre history of the Cortez. Take a look at the short synopsis below via TV Guide for some more information:

“Fashion designer Will Drake spruces up the Hotel Cortez; a model gets the attention of the Countess; and John learns about the hotel’s first owner.”

We cannot confirm the specific run time for the second episode just yet, but we can at least tell you this: It won’t run for 90 minutes again. Usually we bemoan these sort of long episode lengths, but we actually felt like there was enough going on in here, at least for now, to justify it. To us, what is going to be interesting is seeing what happens when Will tries to transform this hotel, and whether or not he is able to make it better or worse.
