‘Arrow’ season 4: New image puts Willa Holland’s Speedy in the spotlight

For some reason this season, “Arrow” really loves sharing promotional photos with the cityscape in the background. Maybe this is their way of substituting for proper promo images?

Anyway, we’ve seen similar images in the past both of Oliver Queen and Diggle in their new costumes (with the latter being particularly maligned); today, we’ve got your first look at Willa Holland as Speedy with the all-too-familiar background. We know that hating on things is currently one of the new trends of the internet, but we have a hard time imagining just what you could have negative to say about this particular look. It’s really sharp! We like the two-toned feel, since it will both help her remain visible to viewers and also enable her to be reasonably stealthy within the world of Star City. Also, it’s different enough from Arsenal that it doesn’t just feel like Thea put on Roy Harper’s old costume and ran with it.

Yes, we know that there are some videos and photos out there of this costume already, but often it is hard to get a real sense of what a costume looks like in motion. We’re happy that The CW and the producers are kind enough to give us images like these.

As for how Speedy fits into the show’s universe during season 4, we know that in the early going she and Black Canary are going to come to Oliver looking for help in stopping the Ghosts, a group of criminals who are starting to take over the city. With the help of Felicity, they are able to make sure that Ollie becomes the Green Arrow, and resumes his duties saving the city.
