‘The Strain’ season 3: Premiere date speculation and much more after Nora shocker

Strain -

As it turns out, Sunday really is quite the night when it comes to ending shows that involve some sort of deadly infection. In between “Fear the Walking Dead” on AMC and then “The Strain” on FX, isn’t there quite a lot of this going around?

At this point in its run, “The Strain” is clearly the one generating a little bit less insofar as publicity goes. We imagine that one of the primary reasons why is just because this is a show that tends to be somewhat polarizing; it is action-packed and shocking, but to some, it goes much further than it really needs to. Even for diehard fans of the show Sunday’s finale had to be a surprise, given that we lost a character in Nora who is considered extremely valuable in the source material.

When it comes to looking towards the future of this show, what we can now tell you is that the network does have some big plans for it. FX already announced earlier this summer that “The Strain” is coming back for a third season, and we figure that once again it will air in the summer. What we do wonder is that with “Fear the Walking Dead” having a larger order next summer, would it make more sense to move this show off Sunday nights? It does to us, if for no other reason than that you don’t want an overload of shows with at least a few similarities.

As for how long this story could really last, this is one of those cases where the story could become independent of the source material and truly limitless. We’ll hopefully get some more news over time.
