‘Faking It’ season 2, episode 16 preview: Why are Amy and Karma pretending again?

At this point in the run on MTV’s “Faking It,” we have seen Amy and Karma run the full emotional gamut. The two started off as friends who decided to become lesbians in order to boost their popularity, and that started to fall apart the moment that it became clear that Amy was actually developing feelings for her. Amy destroyed the friendship, lied about it, and then tried to rebuild while Karma tried to forgive her.

The two are starting to be on better terms now after going through everything that they have, so why in the world would they think that faking it once again would be a good idea? We don’t really think that they do, but they don’t have much of a choice if they want to keep Karma’s mother from being exposed.

As the sneak peek below helps to make it clear, Amy and Karma are back to pretending to be together for one night, mostly so that Karma’s mom is not embarrassed about sticking with her PFLAG chapter that she joined after hearing about her daughter’s “relationship.” She has found a sense of purpose in being with these other parents, and as a result of that did not want to give it up in the midst of her other devastation in her life.

Let’s be honest, though: How long is this going to actually last? We cannot think this is the sort of plan that will go undetected by all of the other parents, especially with so many Karma / Amy exploits out there.
