‘Supernatural’ season 11 trailer: First look at Emily Swallow!

The 11th season of “Supernatural” is premiering on The CW Wednesday night, but before we come around to that, why not present a new sneak peek featuring the most mysterious addition this season?

Ever since Emily Swallow (“The Mentalist”) was cast in a major arc this season, speculation raged as to who she could play. Judging from the latest trailer, we are starting to think that the speculation about her being a human manifestation of the Darkness is the most-likely case here. She is seen briefly surrounded by the mysterious force, and let’s face it: If the Darkness the entire season is the smoke monster from “Lost,” it is not anywhere near as exciting.

As for some other key moments in the trailer, we have rumors of death, Castiel being tormented, and basically a series of reminders that with the Darkness present, the world is scattered and dangerous. Sam and Dean have their work cut out for them. In many past seasons of the show, the two have benefited from the fact that only a select few likely felt that they were in danger from supernatural forces; most of the time, humanity remains in the dark. Is that going to be the case this time, or is this going to join the few other events over the show’s history that classify as “too big to cover up”? We will see soon enough.

Now, let’s just how that Swallow’s character, no matter who she is, proves to be awesome and worth fearing.
