Is ‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7, episode 1 new tonight on The CW?

tvd -This has been a long summer for “The Vampire Diaries,” and a precarious one to go along with it. While there have been changed from one year to the next, it feels like there has always been that heaping bowl of chicken-soup-comfort-food that was the Elena love triangle, or in later seasons the relationship between her and Damon. That kept the fans intrigued, and waiting to see where the two would go moving forward.

Unfortunately now, we are staring at a future for this show where nothing is anywhere near as secure. Nina Dobrev is gone. Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley are now fronting the show. The diary itself is going to have to change. Are there going to still be masses on Twitter discussing what comes next?

We understand at this point people just wanting to check out the show and be done with the preseason jitters; unfortunately, you are going to have to wait one more week. While in the past The CW has used “The Vampire Diaries” as the launching mad for their fall season, that is not their way of doing things anymore. Credit the meteoric rise of “The Flash” for that, with the decline in “Vampire Diaries” viewers serving as another key factor. Come October  8, you will get a chance to see many of your top questions answers … at least hopefully. The odds are still high that some additional ones will be coming ot too long after the opening credits.

As a teaser for next week, here are a few questions you should be rattling around in your brains:

1. Is there hope for Stefan and Caroline, now the most-prominent couple on the show featuring characters actually present?

2. Who is Bonnie going to fall for now that Jeremy is out of the picture completely?

3. What sort of long-term impact will the Heretics have on Mystic Falls, and what will draw Damon back there after spending some time away? As you can see in the sneak peek over here, he is taking some time drinking the day away in Amsterdam … and given that it’s Amsterdam, probably doing some other things to that won’t be featured on the show. (We kid!)
