‘The Good Wife’ season 7 star Alan Cumming signs up for new Showtime comedy

Showtime -Is it possible that we could be starting to get to the end of the road for “The Good Wife“? While we cannot confirm anything at the moment, we are starting to at least get some of our first real pieces of evidence that some people familiar with the show are starting to look elsewhere.

With this in mind, we turn now to Alan Cumming. According to a new report from Deadline the actor has signed up to star in the potential Showtime comedy “Florent,” where he would play Florent Morellet, a New York restaurateur who owned a popular establishment in the Meatpacking District for decades. The series would be set in the 1980s, and would have a very dark tinge to it.

Does this new role mean that Eli is going to be no more on the show, or that CBS is starting to think that the end is almost here for the series? It is certainly not cut-and-dry. We did hear for years, though, that the plan was for “The Good Wife” to last seven seasons, and this new role may just be a way for Cumming to hedge his bets a little bit in the event the show ends.

The most important thing to note here for now is that “Florent” is in second position to “The Good Wife,” which means that provided the show and he return, it will remain his top priorities and his duties here will come contractually before anything else.
