‘Ink Master’ season 6, episode 11 podcast: Jessa, Bart talk fine art, Katie McGowan elimination

Ink MasterThis week’s episode of “Ink Master” was one of the more difficult elimination tattoo challenges we’ve ever seen as the artists had to replicate works of art into a tattoo. There were very few people that actually hit the mark and many that made some very strange choices in the replications, making us wonder if this week’s challenge evened the playing field and turned this from the Chris Blinston show into a real competition.

With this week’s challenge being fine art, it was a perfect episode to podcast with Jessa Carter’s co-host, Bart, who has an extensive background in fine art. There was a lively discussion about some smart choices Eric and Duffy made when tackling two of the hardest pieces to replicate (Starry Night and Water Lilies), but also Bart’s head shaking moments watching the episode as Matt and Chris decided to start their Venus tattoos on everything other then Venus herself.

There was also talk of Katie McGowan’s elimination on what was easily the hardest painting to recreate and how we are at the point in the competition that one bad tattoo can send you home. Katie has been producing solid tattoos the whole competition and if any woman was going to make it to the finals this year we saw Katie sailing there no problem, but now that we’ve lost her our hopes of seeing a female winner are squashed. As much as we love Duffy (and we really do), she’s been in the bottom so much that the judges have made up their minds about her – it’s not fair, but it’s how they’ve rolled every season.

Last but not least Jessa and Bart spend some time chatting about Craig Foster, an artist that they both love to pieces and think could win the show if he doesn’t get into his head too much. This past episode we saw Craig thinking so far outside the box to impress the judges that it actually ended up shooting himself in the foot and we worry that there may not be enough time left in the competition to change their opinions of him.
