‘Hannibal’ video: Watch Mads Mikkelsen’s thank-you while we hope for season 4 news

This weekend marks the first one in over a month without a new episode of “Hannibal” airing on NBC, and that is still a sad reality to try and embrace. This has been one of the finest network TV shows of the past decade, and yet we’re having to think about it being over before it even hit the 40-episode mark.

While there are no updates at the moment on a fourth season, and there may not be for quite some time, the video below from the DiLaurentis Company is still rather fun. It is a thank-you from none other than Hannibal himself (Mads Mikkelsen) to the fans for their devotion and their love. At the end, the camera eventually pans to his face after he says that it’s still possible that there could be more of franchise someday.

One of the main reasons to remain optimistic for the future of “Hannibal” is because of the love that those involved seem to have for it. Both Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy have each said that schedules permitting, they would like to continue the story, and we know that creator Bryan Fuller would, as well. For the three, we imagine that there are two separate challenges here.

1. Finding the right venue / way to fund it. There is the feature film option out there, and who knows? Maybe a network / streaming partner will show interest a little further down the road. Fuller is working next on “American Gods” for Starz.

2. Getting everyone together. We just mentioned Bryan’s next project, Dancy is going to star next in the Hulu series “The Way,” and Mikkelsen has many film roles ahead, including one upcoming “Star Wars” project.
