‘Girl Meets World’ season 2, episode 15 preview: First ‘Girl Meets Farkle’ promo revealed

There has not been a new episode of “Girl Meets World” for a couple of weeks now, but when the show does return on September 11 with “Girl Meets Farkle” (former “Girl Meets I Am Farkle”), they will be featuring one of the most important episodes that they’ve shown in some time.

If you missed the press release we posted on Friday, this is an episode where some of the characters discuss the revelation that Farkle is on the Autism spectrum; specifically, Asperger’s syndrome could be a point of discussion. The show consulted several experts in the field in the process of making the episode, hoping to present one of the most accurate depictions of it possible.

Now, we do have to address some early internet controversy about the promo below. With the episode containing such serious subject matter, why choose to have a promo that is a little more silly and lighthearted? The subject matter is never really even brought up other than a brief discussion of Farkle’s intellect. We don’t feel like this is so much the Disney Channel circumventing the issue; instead, it is more them marketing to their younger audience who watches these commercials. Promos are more for this crowd, after all, than those of us who view them online. They may not be able to convey the complexities of the story in a short amount of time like what this promo allows; the last thing they would want to is misrepresent something because they cram it in.

Ultimately, we see this promo as a classic case of getting viewers to watch, and then actually delivering to them what the story is really all about.
