‘Dancing with the Stars 21’ spoilers: Artem Chigvintsev explains omission from cast
When the cast and professional partners were revealed on Tuesday for “Dancing with the Stars” season 21, we know that there was one enormous question many diehard fans had: What in the world happened to Artem Chigvintsev? The popular pro, who had made a name for himself for the past few seasons, was not listed with a celebrity even though he was included in a promotional poster for the season and it had been previously reported that he would be taking part.
Luckily, we do now have some more information on the subject. As Artem himself writes in a post on Instagram below, there were “last-minute casting changes” that led ultimately to him not being a part of the show this time around. It’s possible that he had a celebrity who dropped out at the last minute, or producers decided to go in a different direction after originally slating him to appear. These things do sometimes fluctuate quite a bit; given that this season has someone who only became a celebrity a couple of weeks ago thanks to rescuing people aboard a train in France, it is fair to say that things change frequently from the original projected cast.
It’s obviously a bummer to Artem fans that he will not be dancing with a celebrity this season, but he claims that he will still be a part of many group routines, and we imagine if there are any special weeks where two pros dance alongside a star, he could be included in that.
The new season begins on ABC September 14, and hopefully we’re going to have a chance to see him paired with someone this spring.
