‘The X-Files’ wraps filming, per Gillian Anderson — see photo!

X Files -You waited for countless years to see “The X-Files” return to TV, and come January 24, that moment will finally arrive after the NFC Championship Game on Fox. It may seem like a long wait, but after so many years, what’s a few more months?

For now, you can at least celebrate that we hit another milestone closer to this happening. According to Gillian Anderson’s own Twitter account (see the photo below), the six-episode revival series (which we are technically calling season 10) has wrapped filming. This means Anderson can finally get a much-deserved rest, given all of her work over the past couple of years. Granted, it’s not a long rest, since she also has season 3 of “The Fall” coming up across the pond alongside Jamie Dornan.

The less we say about the new “X-Files,” the better, but the assumption to make here is that it is going to be a proper combination of fan service and new storytelling. Hopefully it will be a better way to wrap the series, or at least potentially leave things hanging in the event that more comes our way in the future. For the time being these six episodes appear to be it for the show, but we never thought we’d be getting these at this point even a year ago. Time can change things, and so can ratings if the show launches to some enormous numbers early next year. It probably will given its NFL lead-in, and if it can continue those strong ratings in the weeks ahead, we can picture Fox begging everyone to stick around for more seasons.

With filming complete, the wait officially begins for more video content, a longer trailer, and then finally the series you’ve been waiting for.
