Phillip will have surgery Tuesday.

If you were wondering just when Phillip Phillips was going to go under the knife following his victory on “American Idol,” we now have an official answer for you — and it’s soon.

According to TMZ, the season 11 champ is going to undergo surgery on Tuesday to fix some of the issues that have been going on with kidney stones for pretty much the entire season. While this is hardly surprising, there is some new information being released that is certainly interesting when it comes to how badly 19 Entertainment wants to follow along their newest talent on his road to recovery.

Rather than having the surgery in Georgia, which was reported at first, Phillip is instead going to undergo the procedure at an undisclosed hospital in California. One of the “Idol” executives has offered up their lavish Malibu residence as a place for the singer to recover over the coming weeks.

As for how this surgery effects Phillip’s future “Idol” plans, he is still planning to be ready for the start of the show tour (which is what we have been reporting for days now). However, he will be unable to take part in all of the post-show publicity that is typically required of an “Idol” winner. Mjsbigblog is reporting that Jessica will take sole responsibility of a “Today Show” performance on May 31 that was originally meant for both her and the champ, and she and Joshua Ledet (who has to this point been unfortunately shafted following his elimination) will anchor “Live! with Kelly” this week. Will these missed opportunities hurt Phillip’s “Home” single sales? Probably, but the song has dominated iTunes so much this week that it probably won’t matter too much. Plus, the guy really has been in pain for so long that it is hard to imagine him delaying it any longer.

Stay tuned — we will have more on the surgery once we know more.
