2016 Oscars to have two hosts; why do this again?

How about this for something that we really did not see coming to the “Oscars” ever again? It turns out that for the upcoming 2016 Academy Awards, ABC is going to be fine with bringing back two hosts. The last time this happened was back when we had Anne Hathaway and James Franco emceeing the broadcast, and that turned out to be a complete disaster. Sure, it was a little bit better when we had Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin working together on the show, but this is a huge risk.

Obviously, the show’s executive producer for the year in David Hill does not see it this way. Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hill claimed that “There will be multiple hosts for sure – there will be two … Two is better than one.” Did he even watch the show with Franco and Hathaway?

Anyway, we know that there are many duos who will be considered. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey have already denied having any interest, and for the time being we’re inclined to believe them. Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele would be a lot of fun, and they would be our current pick at the moment. Maybe this will revive the movement to have the Muppets appear in some form at the Academy Awards? That was big a little while ago. We’d also be fine, though, if it was a one-two punch like one of the stars of the upcoming “Ghostbusters” movie.

The Oscars are going to air in February, and we’ll have some more news soon enough!
