‘Dancing with the Stars 21’ spoilers: Triple Crown jockey Victor Espinoza joins cast

dwtsDancing with the Stars” revealed over the weekend that their plan was to announce a new cast member every day until the entire roster was complete, but who would’ve imagined that this meant Disney deciding to use this as a way to force people to watch all of their other properties?

Early this morning, it was unveiled that the latest contestant would be unveiled on ESPN’s “SportsNation,” which was a pretty good piece of evidence that it would be an athlete unless they really wanted to troll us. As it turned out, there was no trolling here at all!

“SportsNation” made it clear during an interview that the latest star to join the roster this year would be Victor Espinoza, the Triple Crown winning jockey who worked alongside American Pharaoh earlier this year. This is the first time that the show has ever cast a jockey to appear in the ballroom, so it is a little bit of a surprising choice. Then, producers are always trying to bring in people from all walks of life, and there is going to be no better time to get a jockey on the show (though in horse racing, it’s pretty clear that the horses are the real stars).

One interesting challenge this season is going to be that at 5’2”, Espinoza is one of the shorter male contestants who has appeared, and the show may need to cast a pro dancer who will work alongside him well for choreography similar to what they did previously with Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi.
