‘Big Brother 17’ review: Did Austin make the right move with Steve, Johnny Mac?
Tonight’s “Big Brother” episode was hardly the most exciting in the world. Also, there was a whole lot of Austin and Liz in here, so if you’re not a fan of them then this was probably a snoozefest for you. They’re far from the most likable showmance in the world, and no matter how much the editors try to make them come across as endearing, that is probably not going to change anyone’s opinions of them.
Most of the story of this episode revolved around one simple decision after Austin won Head of Household: Whether or not he should nominate Steve or Vanessa alongside Johnny Mac. Steve put him in a pretty bad position, demanding that he will not go on the block against Johnny Mac … which ended up happening. Vanessa also refused to be a pawn, and she did so pretty brilliantly. We don’t think that Vanessa is doing a good job at owning what she’s doing in the Diary Room, but she is good at it in the house. Her also finding the right moment to own up to what she did with James in the Battle of the Block is smart.
Of course, this was all made even more hilarious by the fact that Johnny Mac was really the target for most of Austin’s alliance in the first place … at least for now.
In the end, we do think that Austin probably made the right move, if for no other reason than that Vanessa doesn’t seem to want to go after him yet. We do think it could happen in time, but Steve and John have even less loyal to him and he knows it.
Also, what is with Austin doing Matthew McConaughey from “True Detective” during that Nomination Speech? Also, what’s with #imaginarium being a hashtag?

Why are all the houseguests so intimidated by Vanessa? There have been so many opportunities to nominate or backdoor her, yet nobody acts. When Becky had the courage to stand up to Vanessa and refuse to be bullied by her, the entire house abandoned Becky.
Right now, the other-houseguests-to-Vanessa ratio is 7-1. Nobody trusts Vanessa, and everyone knows that she lies, bullies, and manipulates. The scales are so clearly tipped in one direction. Yet, these people are so afraid of her, they do nothing to evict her. Are they really that fearful of yet another confrontation and meltdown?

“Also, what is with Austin doing Matthew McConaughey from “True Detective” during that Nomination Speech?” Is that what he was doing? Having not watched that show, I had no idea.
