‘Talking Dead’ spoilers: Scott M. Gimple, Jorge Garcia join Chris Hardwick for preview special

There’s no new episode of “The Walking Dead” until October 11, but AMC has still uncovered another great way to turn tonight into a little bit of a zombie-themed event: Airing a new installment of “Talking Dead” at 8:00 p.m. Eastern before the “Fear the Walking Dead” premiere, and giving you a chance to preview season 6 of the flagship zombie show.

Given that what you are seeking more than likely is information above all else, it’s nice that the main show-related guest for Chris Hardwick tonight is Scott M. Gimple. The showrunner knows better than anyone what’s going on in Alexandria, and with millions of viewers tuning in, we could see one of the biggest reveals for the show during this episode.

As for another guest, we’re going to get a visit from the always-fun Jorge Garcia (“Lost,” “Hawaii Five-0”), who knows a thing or two about what it’s like to star on one of the most-popular shows of an era.

It’s funny in a way how many other networks have tried to follow this aftershow format that was really started by “Talking Dead” and to an extent “Watch What Happens Live,” but for the most part they all struggle when it comes to one simple aspect of it: Consistency, and knowing how to make something both funny and informative. This show is benefited from having intelligent fans, a property that is beyond successful, and a great host in Hardwick who has the experience of having great conversations with his podcast and panel-hosting prowess.
